Goods in, ready to be picked and packed
Our pick and pack service all starts with getting your goods into our warehouse ready for the picking process. If the products are not counted and coded properly then mistakes can occur with the process of picking and packing your products. If your products are not already bar coded, then Marketing Logistics can provide your company with an internal bar code for your products.
After your products are safely organised, Marketing Logistics can then scan your product at certain points throughout its life in the warehouse: at goods in, put away, pick and confirmation. Using our wireless handheld pick and pack scanners, this process is efficient and mistakes are much less likely to occur.
As the products are booked in, they automatically update your inventory and are available for picking and packing almost immediately. This keeps any delay in dispatching orders or back orders to a minimum and makes our pick and pack service one of the best in the UK.
Picking your products
All of the picking by our pick and pack team is controlled through the Marketing Logistics WMS – Warehouse Management System. Orders submitted through the API, web portal or via email are processed and a pick list of your products is produced. This gives the services team the location in the warehouse, code and quantity of items required.
The pick and pack team use the scanners to pick the orders which are then packed and confirmed in a methodical process. All stock transactions are recorded and reported daily via our free reporting service.
Packing your customers orders
Once your customers products are picked, they are checked and carefully packed ready for dispatch. If your pick and pack products have been packed in your packaging that’s fine, if not we select the best fit packaging to prevent unnecessary use of gap, fill or oversized boxes or envelopes.
We will also add a delivery note which is personalised to include your business logo and company details. This will help to maintain your company image and enforce brand awareness with your customer base, even though we are running your pick and pack service.
If you want us to add a brochure, business card, compliment slip or any other branded correspondence to your pick and pack service, we can accommodate that at this stage of the service. All orders are packed securely and labeled in accordance with any special instructions given to the Marketing Logistics services team.
Dispatching your picked and packed products
Once the pick and pack part of the service is complete, the consignment will be labeled accordingly and dispatched. This might be Royal Mail, parcel or pallet courier, depending on size, weight and quantity of boxes - we'll always pick the right and most cost effective option for your company. Then via reporting and access through the provided online portal you can access dispatch information such as consignment numbers, date of dispatch etc.
If you capture your customers email address and phone number when they place orders, an email will be sent to them to tell them their order is on its way from our warehouse. They can then track the progress of their consignment online and if the picked item has been dispatched via a courier, the customer will receive an SMS with an estimated delivery time for their picked and packed order. For larger loads that have been picked by Marketing Logistics, we have access to a fleet of lorries so we can deliver and collect across the UK as required.
